| Kalyani is about 45 years old. She was born with a disability and has very small legs and feet, which she cannot use for walking. She can only use her hands and arms to drag herself around. Her mother died when she was young and her father married another woman and had more children. Her stepbrothers and stepsisters didn't want her to be around because of her appearance. So, her stepbrother brought her to the ashram and dropped her off at the ashram, penniless, even though they are well off. She is intelligent and she sings very well even though sometimes she gets very angry because of her situation. In the ashram everybody likes her and is sympathetic and takes good care of her. |
